Diveagar : A beautiful Coastal village

As a traveler I am little partial towards a beach vacation and living in Mumbai, near by small coastal towns and villages are always in my mind. One such village is Diveagar, situated in Raigad district of Maharashtra and approximately 180 kilometers south of Mumbai. You can easily reach this place in 4 to 5 hours by car from Mumbai. If you are visiting during long weekends or holiday season remember to book your hotel in advance.

Diveagar is a small quite town situated on coast of Arabian sea and having approximately 4 km of coast line. Diveagar beach is comparatively a clean and less commercialized beach. During your visit to this place you can also visit some temples such as Suvarna Ganesh temple, which have a rich history. I visited this place twice within a gap of 4 years and I can see the impact of growing tourism industry of Maharastra. My first visit was more memorial than the second as in my first visit I was able to feel the soul of village and innocence of villagers, which was missing in my last visit. Still I suggest to visit this place if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing weekend break.

Some places of interest are-
Suvarna Ganesh Mandir- It is situated middle of village, earlier it was very famous for Golden Ganesh, which was stolen few years back. Now they are reconstructing the temple and recreating the idol. One can visit this place during their visit to Divegar.

Divegar Beach- This is the main attraction of Divegar. Visit beach in early morning or during sun set so you can capture beautiful pictures and can also enjoy the clean beach.

Rupnarayan Mandir- Situated next to Divegar beach , its an ancient and beautiful temple made from red stones. Do visit this small but beautiful temple.

There are few more places situated around Divegar such as Velas beach and Phansad wild life century which can be explored if you have time. For more information visit - http://www.diveagar.ind.in/

But my suggestion is to just be yourself and enjoy the serenity and peace of this place.
